A permanent home is the last step, not the first. This page explains the order we are working in and how we will know when we are ready.
The order of operations
Community first
Gatherings, service days, and programs that need no building.
Coalition second
Partner groups, shared tools, and joint projects.
Congregation third
A Founding Circle, a charter, and a legal home as a congregation.
Building last
A place of our own, only if the community can sustain it.
The vision
A welcoming, accessible space in the Charlotte area with room for gatherings, classes, a kitchen for potlucks and cooking workshops, meeting space for partner groups, and a place for ceremonies. Renderings will appear here when they exist. We would rather show you real plans than invented pictures.
Twelve months to a decision
These are planning estimates to check against reality, not promises. If a checkpoint is missed, we stay in that phase longer rather than pushing ahead.
Oct to Nov 2026
Relaunch
This site goes live with double opt-in, the first gathering is scheduled, and the existing list is invited to re-confirm.
Nov 2026 to Jan 2027
Gather
Monthly gatherings begin, partner conversations start, and the steering committee forms.
Feb to Apr 2027
Charter
The Founding Circle opens, at least one program runs under each pillar, and project leads step forward.
Oct 2027
Go or no-go
A decision on the Center, based on the gate below.
The go or no-go gate
We move toward a building only if all of these are true:
- Pledges cover the operating budget.
- Attendance has been steady for six months.
- Incorporation and the IRS filing are done.
